Howdy. I am Gary McCarver, Chair of the Musical Melodrama that the Fiesta Association has sponsored with the help of great benefactors for the past few years. It is with great pleasure that I announce that Musical Melodrama has now been added to the regular events leading up to the Swallows Day Parade. For over 25 years, I have been performing and perfecting Melodramas right here in San Juan Capistrano. I have written 17 musical Melodramas that have been performed worldwide, and I am honored to have Melodrama introduced to a much wider audience here in the town I call home. It is a perfect collaboration. Preserving old west heritage is what the Fiesta Association is all about … and that is exactly what I have been doing for a quarter of a century.

In 2026 … I will be bringing an audience-participation family-friendly old-west musical Melodrama to the HTC Park on the Saturday one week before the parade. We will have a slew of music with pre-show fun and festivities designed to bring the whole city together. We will even have a sing-along for an original San Juan song that will become a favorite of yours. Please mark your calendars and bring your family to our musical Melodrama in 2026. And remember to “Stay Melodramatic!”

The San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Association Board of Directors unanimously approved President Jim Taylor’s motion to make our Melodrama event officially one of our yearly Fiesta de Las Golondrinas events held leading up to the Swallows Day Parade.
